Open Possible Spam Email Without Problems Arising?

I was wondering if anyone knows any good ways to open possible spam emails without having more spam result from it should it be spam.

I run a business website so we get plenty of email - sometimes we get it not through the contact form (although if spam keeps up I may have to block all else). When this happens, there are times the subject makes me think it may or may not be spam and I would like to view the email to find out - safely. There are also times I have accidentally opened spam email by clicking 'next message' or something like that.

I want to find a safe way to read the email. When this has happened in the past, I've suddenly started receiving a lot more spam email after opening one spam email, so I want to avoid this. I originally thought it would only happen if the message contained images or links that would let the spammer know the email was opened, but it's happened when all I saw was text. I use Horde mail program with qmail behind it. I had to change my email.

Just opening the email will not generate more spam email to you but if you reply to one, that validates your email is real. I don't know if your email software has a preview option but I use Outlook and it has it. Then I tag the email as junk email so when that address tries to email me again, it is automatically deleted. I hope the tips in the above link helps out.
