ever since i can remember my mom has tried to play match maker with me and others also.recently she told me about a guy she works with ,she says hes a good looking nice guy and that she told him about me.she asked him for his email and then she gave it to me and told me i should email him.for some reason i didnt feel i should so i havent used it and its been a week but whenever i speak to my mom she keeps hassling me about it. i dont know why she s so set on me emailing this guy but its kinda getting on my nerves.do you guys think i should just email him ?? and if i did what would i even say being that we,re strangers ? any opinion on this appreciated thanks!

My opinion - no don't email him. If your mom is so desperate to have the two of you meet, let her take both of you to lunch, coffee or a drink after which you can decide for yourself what happens next.

Let her know that you appreciate what she's doing but you don't feel like it's an approach that is going to work for you.
I would be uncomfortable e-mailing a perfect stranger. If there's a way the two of you could meet face-to-face like if you meet your mom at her job for lunch, then she can introduce you or at a company picnic, but in your position right now, I don't think I'd be able to e-mail the person.

Reply:I don't think the user ID name can be changed. You can have an alternate user name and email contact address, and that can be changed. Go to options, mail options, general preferences, and change it there at the top of the page. Also, you can choose which alternate name and contact information to use and display in your yahoo 360 messenger. Go to your 360 messenger page and click settings. From there you choose your preference, then remember to click save, or save and continue.

Suddenly yesterday, I no longer receive email sent from my yahoo account to my yahoo account. I am receiving email sent from others and even email sent to another non Yahoo account but forwarded to my yahoo account. anyone know why this would happen? I often send email to myself as reminders.

Lately, Yahoo Email has been causing my Internet Explorer to freeze and lockup??
This problem started about 2 months ago. I never had any trouble with it like this before. It only happens when I go to check my Yahoo Email. I use other yahoo services and they do not freeze up my PC. All other webpages that I visit do not freeze it up either.
This is how it happens... I pull up the Yahoo page as my home page.... Then it alerts me that I have new email. I click on the email link from the front page. I click on the Inbox link to read my mail. Occassionally, I can read them with no freezing. But 7 times out of 10, it freezes when I click on Inbox. I wait and see if it will work... but it just totally freezes up. I usually then have to hit Ctr, Alt, Del, and end the operation. Sometimes, I can just pull up IE again and start over. Sometimes, I have to reboot my PC all together because it is totally locked up. This only happens when I go into yahoo mail.... Can anybody tell me WHY? What should I do to fix it?

Yes Yahoo had some mail issues but it was a problem with the JAVA for one and for outdated Internet explorer for the other because the updated their computer and missed a download update somewhere. The quickest way to try to solve your issues is to uninstall the yahoo toolbar from your computer and just reinstall it. This should fix any glitch you have. If that doesn't work then also update your Java. You would likely have troubles clicking on buttons in webpages if Java was the 1st issue. If those don't work you can jump onto Microsoft's website for troubleshooters as well. It takes time but they seem to always work. Hope this helps.

If you'd won a lottery they would not need all the information they're asking for, seems like it could be an identity theft scam to me. I'd report it to Yahoo! well, if I knew how. I certainly wouldn't fall for it.

AVG 8.0, paide version, Email Scanninq Question - Can U help?
ok - i have AVG paid 8.0, and it has email scanner, i have it set to check incoming and outgoing email, and it says it is - ok thats good, but it says that some servers may have certification to make the note at the bottom of each incoming and outgoing email that it has been scanned.
Does anyone know if Yahoo facilitates this ? I know Yahoo scans incoming and outgoing email, thats great, I would just like the fact that i run the additional AVG scan noted at the bottom of every email i put out, it just adds added security for my clients, who I correspond with.

AVG 8.0, paide version, Email Scanninq Question - Can U help?
I use the paid AVG 8.0 version. My opinion is that it works better than Norton or McAfee, in that it doesn't jam up your system like the aforementioned. Yahoo is a free service, and even though Yahoo has some email scanning, it doesn't do it all. Some servers have certifications, which require regular updating. If it isn't updated, you will get a notice and usually you have the option to continue or not continue. Having certification doesn't mean anything except to the server. But if you are not sure, contact Yahoo and ask them directly.
Reply:Most of time you dont need a virus scanner to check your email. Because most virus scan every files. So I think you just waste your money on a service which it is free but does say it in their deal. Plus there are some other program can program the virus scanner and to scan it without paying for it.

I use the paid AVG 8.0 version. My opinion is that it works better than Norton or McAfee, in that it doesn't jam up your system like the aforementioned. Yahoo is a free service, and even though Yahoo has some email scanning, it doesn't do it all. Some servers have certifications, which require regular updating. If it isn't updated, you will get a notice and usually you have the option to continue or not continue. Having certification doesn't mean anything except to the server. But if you are not sure, contact Yahoo and ask them directly.

So I think you just waste your money on a service which it is free but does say it in their deal. Plus there are some other program can program the virus scanner and to scan it without paying for it.

I got an email in spam folder from yahoo.co.uk, want to know if its genuine?
I got an email from support@yahoo.co.uk saying my account has been suspended for security reasons and to fill in the attached form. The mail was delivered to my spam folder, I looked at the full header which usually gives the origin of an email away with a completely weird email address but it just says support@yahoo.co.uk.
I can still access email but haven't had anything in my inbox since around the time I got this one, on Friday, which could be normal but I don't know.
Any thoughts on if its genuine or fake?

In my yahoo mail webpage, theres an arrow beside my user name found on the upper left portion of the page, when you point on the arrow, it prompts you to switch between 2 email addresses. i do not know how the other non-yahoo email was placed there but its very convenient. If you have a free yahoo email account, you can't add another email address to the two existing ones. The free email account only lets you add one other free email account in addition to your free primary email account. About a year ago i made a myspace and because i didnt have my own email, my friends said i should just make one up. Big mistake, but i did it. I unknowingly used a real email address, and the person who it belonged to verified my account for me. I didn't know this until a few days ago when someone told me that email addresses had to be verified in order for your account to work, and mine does.
Now, i dont feel safe knowing that a stranger has had all of my personal information to get into myspace, being able to read my myspace messages and such for an entire year. I want to change my email, but the person on the other end has to agree to it first and click the okay. Everytime i've tried this, the person never does it.
I tried sending an email to the address i used, but i got a message back saying the message was a failure and didnt go through / error type thing.
What can i do?? Someone please help!!!

today makes a week me and my gf have been together. we usually email some throughout the week. i was the one to email last which was around tuesday or wednesday. i havnt seen or talken to her since friday. should i email her or not. i dont want to come off as smothering or spamming her inbox. we have 5 pages worth of emails already over the course of a few weeks. this probably sounds stupid, but i was just wandering. we usually go through periods of a lot of emails, but she is always the one to quit the chain of emails. so im thinking i should not, but just wanted another opinion.

Reply:Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send recieve delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I have been advised to use this site to view my mail, www.mail2web.com if all else fails go back to classic mail via this link. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?s... click yes when asked do you want to opt out. On sonyericsson.com I registered for my w580i phone so I can get free themes and such. It says that they will send a confirmation email to my email address. I haven't received it since yesterday. And it also said when i registered, if an email wasn't sent in at least 1 hour then I would have to contact them. I sent an email complaining but then tried 2 other emails. Still no email.

The email says that Yahoo is cleaning out their system and getting rid of all unused accounts. It says that if you don't respond, your email account will be deleted if you don't respond in 2 weeks.
I just thought it was funny because they spelled some of the words wrong..."mesage" and "terriitory"...lol.
I almost replied back to it to make fun of them for their horrible attempt at phishing, but I didn't because everyone says not to reply to those emails and to delete them.

I have setup two email accounts in Outlook 2003. Now when I get sent an email to either email address, Outlook throws it all into one inbox. I would like Outlook to do a send/receive and put the email into separate folders, a folder for one Email account and a folder for the other. How can I do this?

Deleting email addresses before forwarding?
I figured out how to delete email addresses of the people that are included in the email sent to me before I sent them on to someone else, however after I have delete those addresses, if there is picture embedded in the body of the email such as .gif or .jpeg, when I foward the email on, the pictures are not included with the email.

This has absolutely no effect on the body of the mail (where the pictures are embedded) and you can send as usual. Test it by sending to yourself.
If the pictures don't transport----it ISN'T because the addresses were erased.
Only the outgoing mail will be changed---original remains unaltered-----but a copy of the changed one will be in your sent folder----look and see.

Yahoo email program not always working?
I spent 3 hours on the phone the other day with Yahoo/AT%26amp;T and they told me that if we're not able to send or receive emails, or are not getting our usual automated emails that since the internet has 5 routers for the internet that perhaps one of those routers is getting old and is starting to glitch. They also said they have one router of their own that may be having problems. In addition they said that some ISP's may have them blocked (as aol did a few years back which caused a big court suit). They told me to have people email me to see if my email is working...lol and said when they do email me and get a mailer-daemon letter that they should copy the header and send that email to me so I could send to them....duh, the problem is...that I can't receive all the emails so how can I even accomplish as they suggest?
Anyone have any good ideas for solving this problem? I see that I'm not the only person who has yahoo email who is experiencing this problem. "we" need your ideas.

Is Yahoo email error free?
I would like your opinion and comments on Yahoo email use. When transferring an email from incoming mail to my folders sent from Hansard, Houses of Parliament: text went missing! Do other people experience errors like this?
When I worked for Solicitors they only used computers as a last resort and for lengthy repetitive documents only. When dealing with Unemployment Benefit Offices they very rarely send email replies and staff do not have easy access to this facility.
Do businesses using email have complaints about accuracy of email sent/received? Is this the future or correspondences as I much prefer the post for accuracy. However I do like the immediacy of email with all its faults. Plus communications cannot get wet!

Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And what's happening to you is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems.
I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the whole time. If you don't have another acct.w/another provider besides Yahoo, I'd strongly advise to get one; it makes a good backup in case of problems like this.

Why does my email address/ Yahoo ID show up on the managers page of my fantasy sports teams?
I have set up an alternate profile, set it as the default, logged on with it, seen it "welcome" me by it, and still, when I set up a fantasy team, my Yahoo ID which is also my email address is listed as my Yahoo ID. This is despite the fact that I have asked for my email address to be hidden and that under "Email" on the managers page it says "hidden" for my email address. That looks ridiculous! My email address is right next to where it says "hidden"! I have engaged in online chat several times and sent emails back and forth with fantasy sports help and they just don't seem capable of understanding what I'm talking about. It has been suggested that what I want is impossible. However, in nearly all of my leagues, nearly all of the managers have a Yahoo ID that is NOT an email address. So if ones' Yahoo ID has to be an email address, how come THEIR Yahoo ID is just an alternate profile? Clearly, either they're doing something right, I'm doing something wrong, or the system is faulty.

How do I change the default email program on my computer BACK to Outlook? When the new Yahoo messenger installed today, it changed my default email settings to Yahoo email. Is there anyway to change the from-header of email. I use gmail and I change the "reply to" email but the from-header still show my real email if people want to look. What is a way to change this data to hide away the real email address?

For either security reasons or marketing reasons, I don't think that it's possible to completely hide your Gmail address.
Here are the directions from the gmail site for setting up a different from address, note that your gmail account will always be in the header:

Forgot AOL email password?
I forgot my AOL email password and when I go to the screen where you type in your username/email and password to log in and instead of doing that I click a link that says 'forgot password' ... then it directs me to another page that asks for either my username or email, so I typed in my email, and it said that it sent my password to my email... I have a specific issue...each time i send something to my friend's email address using Outlook. I always get a 'Deliver Status Notification (Failure)' for the email sent. I always confirm with the recipient and he always confirms that he never recieves anythign from my Outlook.
Surprisingly, if I use my Yahoo account to send the email the email goes through...This has made me scratch my head countless times as I work in an IT firm and I could not solve this.
The error message comes as:

My guess was whenever I send him something using Outlook, the email is sent to another email address that is registered in BTconnect, but I have purged my address and have verified the properties of the email address. Any ideas?

The problem could be related to firewall or antivirus settings. When you say that you send something using Yahoo if you mean webmail then the email isn't subject to your firewall and antivirus rules. If you send email using Outlook then it has to go through both before being delivered. To test this, turn off your firewall and antivirus softwares email scanning features, then send using Outlook. If it goes through you've found the problem. Of course, make sure to put your antivirus email scanning and firewall back up after the test. Good luck.

How to email my customers all at once?
I own my own business. As of today, I have 74 customers. I want to email all of them to remind them to renew their plans and I have their names, emails, addresses, and phone numbers in an excel spreadsheet.
How can I email all of them so that it says "To: their email" and from me.
I do NOT want to put myself in the subject and BCC all of them so don't answer that I should do that. I know there are websites that do it for you but I don't want to pay very much. Also, I do NOT want to do it individually but I can if I have to. I just want it to say To them From my business email and that's it. Is this possible? Thank you.
Note: I am using Outlook Express and it's not a yahoo email, it's an email from my business domain

There is a function in Microsoft Word (if you have that) which is specifically made for this process. It's called "Mail Merge".
You may have to create a .csv file of your addresses from excel, then import them into outlook. Since you have Excel, I'm assuming you have Word and Outlook (not express). You'll need both.
Open Microsoft Word Help and search for "mail merge email". You'll see a few topics. There is a wizard to follow, so it will take you step by step.
The end result is that you will have a single email to each customer with only their email address and your return address on it. It will look like you typed an individual email to each person, but you only typed it once. (You will have to copy and paste the text of the email into a word document in order to do it.)
I've done this in the past and it works, (but it took me about 3 tries to get it right.) Stick with it. Try it with only a few email addresses first, until you figure it out.

Saving email from two different programs into one file?
I recently change to high speed with another ISP that does not offer an email program, so I went with a free program. Needless to say, this free email program doesn't use Outlook Express as I did with my earlier ISP. I want to save the OE emails, but would like to be able to combine emails from the new free email program into the same folders. Is there any way to copy and save Yahoo email into Outlook Express? Or any other program, so I can have ALL of my saved email together?

My Yahoo email is working just fine, but my husband's is not. He can sign into Yahoo, but it will not take him to his email account. VERY frustrating to say the least, especially since he is currently job hunting and his Yahoo email is the one that he has been using on all of the resumes he has sent out. Seeing that he is currently unemployed and we NEED him to find a job VERY soon...is there a phone number (the customer service #s were NOT helpful at all...nor are the CS email contacts...just sending back generic emails on all I've sent to them) for Yahoo Email Tech Support?

Example - I have email account abc@johndoe.com, and abc@widgets.com, and abc@yahoo.com that are all coming into my Outlook 2003. When I receive an email sent to abc@johndoe.com, I hit reply, and for some weird reason the "From" address will populate with any number of email addresses EXCEPT the correct one. I have set my reply correctly by going to "Tools" "Email Accounts" "View or change", I choose the account, "change" "more settings" then put the appropriate email in the bottom box labeled "Reply Email". Okay so I got the boot through an email. My ex has always had a problem expressing her feelings. She is also going through a tough time right now since her father passed away four months ago and she has alot to deal with. She also has low self esteem and told me how she has not been happy for a very long time. She is in therapy right now for these issues. Actually the day after she saw the therapist I got the dump email. So anyway she rights this email dumping me saying how she needs time to figure out her own life and can not be happy with another person until she is happy with herself. She asks me to not hate her and apologizes for "doing this" in an email. I replied, knowing all she is going through, that its okay that she did it in an email. I told her that I understand the our relationship is over and do not hate her, but while she wants to be friends I can not do that because I need time to get over her... So in this situtation what do u think of me being email dumped?

Probably the easiest way for her and certainly you acted like a gentleman about it. With her instability, the only way she could be brave enough.

Is there a way to automatically set yahoo! email to open when I click, "Email this link" or "send this image"?
I have a mac, and it keeps opening up the mac email or the Thunderbird email, when I click "Email this link" or "Send this image", etc. I don't use Thunderbird or Mac Email, so how can I connect the automatic email to my yahoo! email?
Is there a way to automatically set yahoo! email to open when I click, "Email this link" or "send this image"?
You would need to make Yahoo the default Mail.
I don't know if this will work with a Mac----but if you're using Internet Explorer, it should.
It's worth a try anyway. Good luck.

In the dialog box that opens, click the "programs" tab across the top, and then, click the down arrow at the end of the Email line, and choose Yahoo Mail. Apply and OK.
If Yahoo doesn't appear on the list, as one of the choices-----(it usually doesn't)----you will have to download (or re-download) Messenger---all of it----and that will put Yahoo on the list.
Now go back (tools-internet options-programs) and you will able to select Yahoo---apply and ok.
Later, you can remove Messenger---if you don't want it---without affecting the setting.

I have 2 yahoo.com email accounts. When I log into #2, it shows my #1 email address. #2 needs be be verified.
I can't verify email #2, since when I try to log into the #2 account, it only shows me the #1 email address. I try and verify the #2 account, but can't get to the #2 email account, since everytime I log in using that #2 username and pw, it only shows the #1 email account.
I have 2 yahoo.com email accounts. When I log into #2, it shows my #1 email address. #2 needs be be verified.
Maybe you thought you set up a different email account, when you were still on #1...and just added another screen name to it.
That would be why when you log into what you think is #2, it still shows the #1 account.
Try logging into the #1 account, click on the 'accounts' link or if it's not available, click your name link (it will be underline on the top page...put in your password and you can see if that's what you did.
It will also have the 'edit' link where you can see the verification box, to verify the email address[es].
If that's what you did, just go back to the yahoo start page and 'sign up' for another yahoo email address. This would then become your second email address.
I have 2 yahoo.com email accounts. When I log into #2, it shows my #1 email address. #2 needs be be verified.
Maybe you thought you set up a different email account, when you were still on #1...and just added another screen name to it.
That would be why when you log into what you think is #2, it still shows the #1 account.
Try logging into the #1 account, click on the 'accounts' link or if it's not available, click your name link (it will be underline on the top page...put in your password and you can see if that's what you did.
It will also have the 'edit' link where you can see the verification box, to verify the email address[es].

You would need to make Yahoo the default Mail.
